With lines taken from our new breath taking 28 SCS Sport Cat the side profile of this new Sport Deck projects speed, beauty and performance; even at rest. Designed in house by Michael Willen, creator of our Award Winning Bullet Series line of boats (4X Powerboat Boat of the Year) and our Award Winning 28 Sport Deck (2X Powerboat Boat of the Year), the new 28 SDS Sport Deck represents our most advanced multi hull/multi use creation to date. Utilizing a new modular design interior “you” literally pick the interior design and layout of your choice. Select from a full width rear bench seat with a full sundeck or an L-shaped wraparound seat with a rear walk-off. In addition you can add a front walk off with a walk thru deck or mix or match “any combination” which addresses your specific needs. Designed as a “performance luxury sport deck boat” with comfort, speed and handling our primary concern, we took our Award Winning 28 Sport Deck bottom and modified it by making the forward tunnels deeper-and more aerodynamic-in order too trap more air and give the hull more natural lift as the air flows thru and under the hull. We then tooled up an entirely new deck complete with an aero dynamic bow mimicking the leading edge of an airplane wing in order to cut thru the air (rather than push thru it) thereby directing the air flow directly to (and under) the tunnels thus generating the additional hull lift described above. The result of this advanced aerodynamic design produces a more efficient, stable and faster hull. We then added a full wrap around Acrylic (distortion free) windscreen, a sundeck with built-in air scoops on the sides (allowing more air too flow into the engine compartment) and a full one piece molded inner liner complete with built-in front and rear seat bases, molded side panels with built-in storage along with recessed stereo speaker placement and a full non-skid surface molded into the cockpit floor. Next we designed a completely new modern style interior to compliment and reflect this new sporty aerodynamic design. High back- race inspired- bucket seats with built-in lumbar and side supports for the driver and passenger and a rear seat configuration (with simulated buckets) and headrests for four, makes for a sporty, comfortable and spacious cockpit interior, or choose form any combination of seating described above.

Construction:

The Howard 28 SDS Sport Deck is constructed using only the finest materials available. We start with full-blown 100% vinyl-ester resin and Knytex knitted Bi and Tri-directional glass fabric. The entire hull and deck are cored with the most expensive composites available (consisting of Baltec Balsa core and Diab foam from Sweden). A full inner liner consisting of the engine compartment, cockpit with molded-in front and rear seat bases along with side panels featuring built-in storage and stereo speaker mounting platforms are all molded into a one piece structure. This structure is then cored with Baltek Balsa coring to keep the weight to a minimum and strength to a maximum. It is then installed using Plexus adhesive, the strongest bonding material available resulting in a more solid, clean and rattle free boat. Decolite vacuum-bagged balsa cored panels are used in lieu of plywood to help keep the weight to a minimum. All hardware is grade A aircraft quality stainless steel. All stringers, bulkheads, floors and tanks are installed while still in the mold to insure a perfect fit. Like all Howard’s, the mold cure time is two weeks to insure proper curing and strength with no distortion. Howard’s absolute insistence on quality and meticulous attention to detail has produced the finest Sport Deck boat available.
